Do you run it as root?

Sorry but I cannot find this message anywhere in the acpi-support package.
Please find out which statement produces this output.

Are you sure you're not running /etc/acpi/asus-touchpad.sh under the same user
you use for X? getXconsole is needed to make sure root can connect to your X 
server.

Feel free to debug getXconsole. It's in /usr/share/acpi-support/power-funcs.
