Hello, I have the same problem here.
After the last upgrade for Debian sid I lost the window buttons on gnome2/compiz. I mean all window buttons (the left one and the tree ones at right side of the window) The solution for me was to downgrade the metacity package to the prior version. # Add wheezy repo to sources.list apt-get install libmetacity-private0=1:2.30.1-3 metacity=1:2.30.1-3 metacity-common=1:2.30.1-3 So I guess something is wrong with the metacity package because downgrading it fixes the issue.
