Package: meld Version: 1.4.0-2 Followup-For: Bug #628783 May be something wrong with python-support.
An strace shows that one of the last files being read by the broken version is /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py, which is empty. I can run "sudo pbuilder --login", then install python-gtk2, there's no /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/gtk-2.0 directory. Running "update-python-modules -afv" does not create one. On my main box (where meld is broken) "update-python-modules -afv" does create the directory /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/gtk-2.0 and the various files in it. So I guess the bug (whatever it is) isn't in meld, but is more likely in python-support. Simply removing the /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/gtk-2.0 directory allows meld to run. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.38-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages meld depends on: ii python 2.6.6-14 interactive high-level object-orie ii python-glade2 2.24.0-1 GTK+ bindings: Glade support ii python-gtk2 2.24.0-1 Python bindings for the GTK+ widge ii python-support 1.0.13 automated rebuilding support for P Versions of packages meld recommends: ii python-gconf 2.28.1-2 Python bindings for the GConf conf ii python-gnome2 2.28.1-2 Python bindings for the GNOME desk ii python-gtksourceview2 2.10.1-1+b1 Python bindings for the GtkSourceV ii yelp 2.30.1+webkit-1 Help browser for GNOME meld suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
