Hi Luk, I think the patch is unnecessary or wrong. lua-expat builds using lua5.1-policy-dev (>= 22), and in version 27 I avoid shipping .la files at all. The right fix, for Debian at least, is to just rebuild the package, possibly updating build dependencies. The same holds for most of the lua packages.
I didn't uploaded them all because I was planning to do that together with other changes, like source version 3.0 (quilt) and move the packages to git during debcamp. I'll just upload the package with the right fix, if you need other packages to be fixed in a timely manner, we can coordinate by mail.
