HI, firstly the patch posted here earlier does work. I had previously used ldpreload to workaround this.
However, if the Red Hat thread is read, you will see that the glib problem does affect other software. Notably some fluendo codecs. There is little upside to the changes that were made to glib, yet the downsides are quite evident. Linus makes the point time and again in that thread.
