When I boot a freshly configured test system with init=/bin/systemd I get the below error messages. I'm not sure if the problems with /var/lock are causing the timeout errors. In any case the result is that booting takes ages and there is no getty running. It seems that the root cause of the /var/lock problems is /run/lock being mounted before /run (see above).
