I did. The list of suspects started pretty long. I had gotten pretty strong evidence libgtk was involved (tricky when merely using GTK results in programs being linked to >40 libraries). Confirming that getting linked to *both* libX11 and libXcb wasn't causing problems resulted in an entertaining search for something that used only one. Bottom line is, some bugs don't make it obvious where they're lurking and sometimes they don't work too well with one's debugging strategies. Meanwhile, did you notice I'd mentioned in my original message X-server and window manager were also ending up consuming processor? That didn't prove the graphics driver was innocent, but it certainly strongly suggested such. Now, did you notice the recipe to reproduce this? Mainly, unclutter+libgtk, *not* merely unclutter. Given how (to my knowledge) no program not linked to libgtk displays this, I still have to suspect this is partially a bug in GTK. In particular, I note that gnome-panel and iceweasel are unaffected, this suggests in addition to the workaround in unclutter a workaround could be found (the question is who is abusing the X Protocol in a worse way, GTK, or unclutter?). -- (\___(\___(\______ --=> 8-) EHM <=-- ______/)___/)___/) \BS ( | e...@gremlin.m5p.com PGP F6B23DE0 | ) / \_CS\ | _____ -O #include <stddisclaimer.h> O- _____ | / _/ 2477\___\_|_/DC21 03A0 5D61 985B <-PGP-> F2BE 6526 ABD2 F6B2\_|_/___/3DE0 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
