Probably GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN_LINUX and GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN_LINUX_DEFAULT are good variable names as well, but I respect your choice. But unfortunately I'm affraid that your patch is not enough... Probably you forgot about grub-mkconfig script. You need to add the new variables to list of exported variables, because 20_linux_xen script hasn't access them without it.
