root@xxxx:/var/spool/cron/crontabs# ps -u avn

  PID TTY          TIME CMD

root      8588  0.0  0.0   3544   756 pts/79   S+   14:47   0:00 grep avn

At the same time my logs shows:

pam_limits(sshd:session): checking if avn is in group common

is in group common

for 'avn' (maximum of 2)

May 19 14:44:28 xxxx sshd[7173]: pam_limits(sshd:session): Too many logins
(max 2) for avn

My limits.conf is

@common          -       maxlogins      2

@common          hard    nproc          50

@open            -       maxlogins      2

@open            hard    nproc          50

john             -       maxlogins      10

Removing pam_limits.so from /etc/pam.d/sshd lets the user logged on again.
