I had similar problem. My session was after update not active. I am using XFCE Desktop an starting Xsession with "start" with no .xsession or .xinitrc file. I have found solution. In /etc/pam.d/common-session must be "session optional pam_loginuid.so" before "session optional pam_ck_connector.so nox11" Update of libpam-runtime removed "pam_loginuid.so" from this config file. It was said "(upon system wide settings)" After it was put back, session is "active" again.
