I struck the automake part of this bug too. I think the automake package should establish a /usr/share/info/automake.info.gz as part of its update-alternatives, the same way it does the man page doc automake.1.gz. I believe just a symlink automake.info.gz -> automake-1.11.info.gz is enough for emacs to find it. No need to symlink the sub-parts .info-1.gz etc since the toplevel automake-1.11.info.gz has the full real name like automake-1.11.info-1.gz already. Having an info document called "automake.info" will ensure cross-references in the info system work and ensure info-look doesn't have to try to anticipate or detect a -N.N and which among multiple might be the current or latest or preferred. I'm not sure how the /usr/share/info/dir updating should be handled for that automake.info link, but even if it's not in the dir initially the symlink will let info-look and cross references work. (I think the different index node names among the automake versions will have to be handled in info-look itself.) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
