Package: proftpd
Version: 1.2.10-22
Severity: minor

Hello,

by default the daemon is disabled in the /etc/default/proftpd file, so
this message appears:

ProFTPd warning: cannot start neither in standalone nor in inetd/xinetd
mode. Check your configuration.

This is wrong (or missleading at best). My ProFTPd server is configuring
correctly for standalone mode so it CAN start in standalone mode. The
script lies. What is meant there is that the auto-start of the daemon is
disabled by /etc/default/proftpd options but that is not what the
message says. It should clearly point out where the probleme comes from
(not from the daemon).

Eduard.
