Package: electric-fence
Version: 2.1.16
Severity: important

When I use electric-fence under gdb, the program being debugged
segfaults during startup:

lakeview ok % gdb --args /bin/ls
  GNU gdb (GDB) 7.2-debian

This GDB was configured as "x86_64-linux-gnu".
For bug reporting instructions, please see:
Reading symbols from /bin/ls...(no debugging symbols found)...done.
  (gdb) set environment LD_PRELOAD /usr/lib/libefence.so
  (gdb) run
  Starting program: /bin/ls

Electric Fence 2.1 Copyright (C) 1987-1998 Bruce Perens.
During startup program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
  (gdb)

This is severity important because really one of the most useful cases
for electric-fence is running under gdb. I believe it may have
something to do with libc6 2.13, since it has worked very recently and
the breakage seems to coincide with the upgrade. Nevertheless, it
appears unrelated to the memcpy issue, since it breaks on amd64 machines
both with and without ssse3.

If you need me to test or provide more information, please let me know.
