Very first thing to do is wait a few hours, or a day, and try again.
twitter's API services are notoriously unstable and fail in novel ways

Hi John!
I hope that it's really not an user error :-) but trying to setup
twidge:
=====
$ twidge setup
Welcome to twidge. We will now configure twidge for your
use with Twitter (or a similar service). This will be quick and easy!
Please wait a moment while I query the server...
twidge: user error (Error from oauthRequest: "")
=====
With -d:
=====
ignite done. trying request 1.
reqres params: error
request 1 failed. attempting workaround.
reqres params: error
twidge: user error (Error from oauthRequest: "")
=====
Some kind of temporary error, twidge error or I am missing something,
please?
Thank you!
Best regards,
Nelson
