your usage of debhelper in rules is flawed, you need to suffix all dh_* calls in binary-arch with -a and in binary-indep with the -i option. otherwise, as the current package does, debhelper creates *always* *both* architecture dependent and architecture independent packages on the buildds (or when manually building with dpkg-buildpackage -B). i'll attach a bug as soon as i've recieved the bug number.
