There seem to be some unresolved issues with guile-1.8. If you got the following error: ERROR: In procedure dynamic-link: ERROR: file: "libguile-srfi-srfi-1-v-3", message: "file not found" then you're hit by Debian bug #622280. Install the package guile-1.8-dev to solve this issue. If you get a permission denied error on /usr/share/guile/1.8/slibcat, this is a different issue, that appears to be solvable by running "sudo gnucash" and opening the file once (see also Debian bug #624468).
