Actually, the page does print even with the error message. The problem is that the output is garbage. I submitted bug 605434 a while back for the garbage output. The emacs ps-print started failing when cups was update for the versions in that bug report. Note that only the cups package breaks emacs printing. If I pin cups to 1.4.4-3 and upgrade the other cups packages (cups-bsd, cups-client, cups-common) to the current wheezy version 1.4.6-4, ps-print in emacs does work. There has been no response at all to the cups bug report. It seems to be very specific to emacs.
