Package: network-manager-gnome Version: 0.8.998-1 Severity: wishlist I have a local network set up with DHCP for IPv4 and router advertisements for IPv6. However, it's unclear to me what configuration I should be using (that is, what the Method option should be) in order to get Network Manager to use IPv6 properly. The IPv6 address is not link-local; it is globally routable.
It does not matter whether I choose "Automatic" or "Automatic, addresses only" for the IPv6 settings; either way Network Manager ignores my IPv6 configuration and prints no information as a result. I do, however, get an IPv6 address from radvd (and thus IPv6 works), although Network Manager feigns ignorance. Since obviously I'm doing something wrong with the configuration, it would be nice if there were some documentation on the matter so that I don't have to guess what configuration I should be using. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.38-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages network-manager-gnome depends on: ii dbus-x11 1.4.6-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.32.1-2 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-icon-theme 3.0.0-1 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii libatk1.0-0 2.0.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.11.2-13 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.10.2-6 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.6-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.92-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-2.2 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.4.4-1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgconf2-4 2.32.1-2 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.23.3-3 GDK Pixbuf library ii libglib2.0-0 2.28.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-bluetooth7 2.30.0-2 GNOME Bluetooth tools - support li ii libgnome-keyring0 3.0.0-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.4-3 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libnm-glib-vpn1 0.8.3.999-1 network management framework (GLib ii libnm-glib4 0.8.998-1 network management framework (GLib ii libnm-util2 0.8.998-1 network management framework (shar ii libnotify1 [libnotify1-gtk2. 0.5.0-2 sends desktop notifications to a n ii libpango1.0-0 1.28.3-6 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.44-2 PNG library - runtime ii network-manager 0.8.998-1 network management framework daemo ii policykit-1-gnome 0.101-2 GNOME authentication agent for Pol Versions of packages network-manager-gnome recommends: ii gnome-bluetooth 3.0.0-1 GNOME Bluetooth tools ii libpam-gnome-keyring [libpam- 3.0.0-2 PAM module to unlock the GNOME key ii mobile-broadband-provider-inf 20110218-1 database of mobile broadband servi ii notification-daemon 0.5.0-2 daemon to displays passive pop-up ii notify-osd [notification-daem 0.9.23-2 daemon that displays passive pop-u Versions of packages network-manager-gnome suggests: pn network-manager-openvpn-gnome <none> (no description available) pn network-manager-pptp-gnome <none> (no description available) pn network-manager-vpnc-gnome <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- brian m. carlson / brian with sandals: Houston, Texas, US +1 832 623 2791 | http://www.crustytoothpaste.net/~bmc | My opinion only OpenPGP: RSA v4 4096b: 88AC E9B2 9196 305B A994 7552 F1BA 225C 0223 B187
