Package: gnumeric Version: 1.10.13-1 Tags: l10n When I open a CSV file e.g. from the web browser or MUA, gnumeric opens the file in my current locale, i.e. en_DK.UTF-8. The file in question have the point as decimal separator and comma as field separator. With my locale values such as 12.345 are misinterpreted as 12345 by gnumeric.
The gnumeric documentation suggests to change the locale to a more suitable one on a per file basis. But this is inconvenient: 1. One needs to first save the CSV file and start gnumeric with another locale from the command line. 2. Changing the locale also changes the user interface language, maybe to a language a user does not understand. 3. Opening more than file with different locales cannot be done within one gnumeric process. In contrast, OpenOffice.org handles this problem very well. On opening, the user gets a preview of the CSV file to be imported. One can select the character set, the field separator etc. Maybe gnumeric could learn from OOo here. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
