which turned out to be due to ce_name for an in-core index entry being
a pointer out of bounds; no one knows why.

Can we find it?  To what extent is the on-disk index trusted?  (Its
integrity is checked by a sha1 but if possible I would like not to
trust it at all.)

Anyway, just filing so it is not forgotten.
