This does not appear to be UUID-based in the relevant place:

>       multiboot       /boot/gnumach-1.3.99-486.gz root=device:hd0s1

(If you know how to make GNU/Mach take UUIDs in root=, perhaps you could
file a separate bug report with the information?)
