Hi, I've managed to get a virtual machine working with qemu/kvm and can confirm the crash happened with packages from 2007 (!)
With the package that was actually shipped with Lenny (4.1.dfsg.1-4.1), this no longer happens, so I am going to mark the bug as confirmed and then fixed. Rupert
