currently references fails to compile with Poppler >= 0.15 (which is not in Debian, yet), see also the upstream bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/referencer/+bug/661503 The attached patch has been merged in a work branch of a referencer developer, http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~referencer-devs/referencer/shiyee_andrease_changes/revision/854 and it maintains compatibility with the Poppler currently in Debian (0.12.4). Could you please apply the patch (needs autoreconf though), so when we will eventually start a Poppler transition referencer can just be binNMUed?
