OK, i needed to reboot my machine, finally. i experienced the same
problem other people were having with version 0.9.2-2 crashing the pam
stack, which actually made it so that i couldn't log in at all (login
and xdm both rely on libpam-opensc on my machine). Rebooting to
recovery mode (no PAM, just flat-file authentication) allowed me to
downgrade to 0.9.2-1 for all the various opensc packages.
After the downgrade, logging in works again, and xscreensaver doesn't
crash after authenticating the way i'd reported it doing earlier. i'd
really like to help to resolve this in any way possible -- it sounds
like it's an issue with the version of gcc used to compile the
package? i *need* these packages to work right. Let me know if
there's any specific ways i might be able to help debug or test.
