Marcus, I think I have seen the same problem and that would be this commit:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/kupfer/commit/?id=4b72c5317ba35462d8974efc5d35c0906febcdf7 I called it the Y2011 problem since it appeared after newyears for me, and it was related to timestamps. :-) I'm not totally sure of the analysis of the problem. If the time=0 changes work for you then it's ok. The timestamps are needed for things related to proper focusing in focus-stealing-prevention-aware window manaers.
