Hi, I still suspect that only map generation is slow and this does not really depend on the screen size (only on map size and parameters).
There have been several improvements in the last releases that should make map generation faster, so I am wondering if you can still reproduce this problem with a newer version (102.2.2 from squeeze or 110.0 from testing).
