I am sorry, I closed this bug report too quickly. In fact, you should have rubber pulled by the Recommends of the latexila package. If you do not, it is because you chose not to install Recommends, so you should expect to loose some functionnalities anyway. But, to quote the Debian Policy Manual: >> The Depends field should be used if the depended-on package is >> required for the depending package to provide a significant amount of >> functionality. I think that for a LaTeX editor, “a significant amount of functionality” includes being able compiling documents. I shall thus promote rubber to Depends instead of Recommends.
