Package: squid3
Version: 3.0.STABLE8-3+lenny4
Severity: normal

Hi,

I also wanted to report this bug,
with frequent CPU wakeups.
I had squid on one machine, and it is actually used
not very often, i today also tested another proxy software
(ziproxy), and was stracing it.

For fun i also straced squid3, and discovered
flood of epool timeouts for no appearent reasons.
Then I looked at top, and discovered that squid
used 165 minutes of CPU on system with 14 days uptime.
And this 165 minuts of CPU consumption
is pure idling, as I had not used this squid
at all in last month!

For me it is would be quite important,
as I was considering installing squid3
in other dedicated box for bigger network,
as also in home. In both cases it would be
very important to keep power consumption
low thus makeing possible to make CPU enter
deep power saving idle state, and not wake it up
to often.

Hope it will be solved, as it looks to be
bad architecture for any kind of periodic work.

Thanks.
