If I use the up and down arrows in the scan options menu to adjust
the brightness I can set negative values,.

If I start a scan with a negative brightness, I get some error popups:

1) Unbekannte Nachricht: Argument "" isn't numeric in subtraction (-) at
/usr/bin/scanadf-perl line 383.

2) Unbekannte Nachricht: Argument "" isn't numeric in subtraction (-) at
/usr/bin/scanadf-perl line 383.

3) Unbekannte Nachricht: scanadf-perl: option --brightness: index 2 out of
range [0..2]

The third message directed me to the work around not to chose negative
brightness
values.

Negative contrast values create a similar problem. After the first two
similar error popups they cause this error:
"Unbekannte Nachricht: scanadf-perl: option --contrast: index 2 out of range
[0..2]"

Chosing negative values by clicking on arrows in the GUI should be disabled
IMHO.

The scanner I use is a HP Scanjet 4c (unfortunately without ADF unit, *sigh*).

Thank you very much for this great program!
