Hi,

while I'm writing this, my system runs an update of some packages.
The system hangs now since one hour with the last lines being:

Trigger für doc-base werden verarbeitet ...
19 entfernte 112 geänderte 107 hinzugefügte doc-base-Datei(en) wird
(werden) verarbeitet...
Dokumente werden mit dwww registriert...
Dokumente werden mit dhelp registriert...

You can trigger the same behaviour by installing / updating w3-recs and
having dhelp already installed.

The long running process is

/usr/bin/ruby1.8 -w /usr/sbin/dhelp_parse -a \
/var/lib/doc-base/documents/w3-recs-cr-css3-mediaqueries-20100727 \
<SNIP 67 parameters /> \
/var/lib/doc-base/documents/w3-recs-rec-soap12-part2-20070427 /

which apparently calls

/usr/bin/index++ --config-file /usr/share/dhelp/swish++.conf \
 --index-file /var/lib/dhelp/documents.index --follow-links \
 --incremental -

for each installed package with documentation.

I monitored /var/lib/dhelp and saw that the file documents.index
(~150MB) is rewritten for each invocation of index++. The Swish search
engine should have some support to merge index files instead of
rewriting the index every time.
