Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.6.10
Severity: wishlist

I have a server running openvpn, and it's often bringing up and down
interfaces and everytime it does a bunch of services are reloaded
unnecessarily (in this system's case) via the /etc/network/if-*.d/*
scripts. I would like a way for the sysadmin to be able to globally
exclude some interfaces from having the up/down scripts run. Then I
could add "ppp0" or "tun*" to the list of excludes and have them
ignored. I also notice that some (but maybe not all?) of these scripts
check for and exclude running for the 'lo' loopback device. Maybe a
general solution could help address that need as well?
