Thanks for reporting this strange bug.

Please provide the following infos:
$ cat /etc/libao.conf
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo
$ aplay -l
$ lspci | grep -i multimedia

ALSA version (if installed). Can be found out by:
$ dpkg -l libasound\*

Does it also happen if you start µRoarD as user without arguments?
Does it still happen if you start it with -R 48000?

Are use used to strace?
