reopen 599273 found 599273 2:4.02+dfsg-7 thanks the squeeze version of extlinux installs the /etc/kernel/*.d/zz-extlinux files mode 0644, so while the permissions may have been fixed in 4.01+dfsg-4 the bug re-appeared in the version in squeeze. so this bug affects new squeeze installations and squeeze -> wheezy upgrades.
IMO this bug needs a more robust fix (chmod +x in maintainer script). /var/cache/apt/archives# dpkg-deb -I extlinux_2%3a4.02+dfsg-7_amd64.deb new debian package, version 2.0. size 85412 bytes: control archive= 3997 bytes. 68 bytes, 2 lines conffiles 105 bytes, 10 lines * config #!/bin/sh 718 bytes, 19 lines control 731 bytes, 11 lines md5sums 1059 bytes, 65 lines * postinst #!/bin/sh 206 bytes, 8 lines * postrm #!/bin/sh 4922 bytes, 60 lines templates Package: extlinux Source: syslinux Version: 2:4.02+dfsg-7 Architecture: amd64 Maintainer: Debian Syslinux Maintainers <sysli...@lists.debian-maintainers.org> Installed-Size: 228 Depends: debconf (>= 0.5) | debconf-2.0, libc6 (>= 2.3) Recommends: syslinux-common, syslinux-themes-debian Conflicts: syslinux (<< 2:4.00) Replaces: syslinux Section: utils Priority: optional Homepage: http://syslinux.zytor.com/ Description: collection of boot loaders (ext2/3/4 and btrfs bootloader) SYSLINUX is a collection of boot loaders which operates off Linux ext2/3/4 or btrfs filesystems, MS-DOS FAT filesystems, network servers using PXE firmware, or from CD-ROMs. .
