Sorry not to respond your bug report earlier. It was not reproducible
for me at that time.
For new machine, I installed ngetty and wrongly have two lines like:
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1
ng:2345:respawn:/sbin/ngetty 1 2 3 4 5 6
Then, I encounter similar problem.
Could you please check output of "ps aux" and see if you have other
getty or ngetty process(es), when you see this problem?
These days, I think that it would be better for ngetty to be started
by script in /etc/init.d, because ngetty is a kind of daemon which
doesn't need to be respawn-ed and it is possible to write a script
which invokes ngetty on different ttys according to runlevel.
