I reported major regressions in the proftpd-basic package in Debian Squeeze. Just out of curiosity, I downgraded to the Lenny version of proftpd-basic (version 1.3.1-17lenny4). I had to install the now-obsolete libcap1 package to do this.
I can confirm that the regressions I listed in my previous e-mail are NOT present in the Lenny version. In other words, the bugs really are in the proftpd-basic package, not in some other package (such as ncftp)! I'm still investigating, as this is important to me...
