no, it does not. that's the completely wrong way of looking at it, it's like saying 'coreutils is an alternative for locate because /bin/ls can list files' dlocate is a tool for searching for data about debian packages. locate/mlocate/etc are tools for searching for files in the filesystem. not the same thing at all.
