Package: libpcsclite1
Version: 1.6.6-2
Severity: important

Hi,

with today's upgrade, libpcsclite1 started depending on pcscd, whereas
it previously only suggested it. The dependency list is huge, especially
that it pulls in the whole HAL stack is very unfortunate.

As wpa_supplicant depends on libpcsclite1 and wpa_supplicant is a
dependency of network-manager, we basically have to install hal again on
a GNOME desktop when we worked very hard to get rid of it.

This is what I get when trying to install wpasupplicant:

# apt-get install wpasupplicant
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  adduser dbus hal hal-info libccid libdbus-1-3 libdbus-glib-1-2 libexpat1
  libglib2.0-0 libhal-storage1 libhal1 libnl1 libpci3 libpcre3 libpcsclite1
libudev0 libusb-1.0-0 pciutils pcscd udev usbutils
Suggested packages:
  dbus-x11 gnome-device-manager pcmciautils wpagui libengine-pkcs11-openssl
Recommended packages:
  eject pm-utils consolekit libglib2.0-data shared-mime-info
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  adduser dbus hal hal-info libccid libdbus-1-3 libdbus-glib-1-2 libexpat1
  libglib2.0-0 libhal-storage1 libhal1 libnl1 libpci3 libpcre3 libpcsclite1
libudev0 libusb-1.0-0 pciutils pcscd udev usbutils wpasupplicant

Cheers,
Michael
