Yes, that would be nice.

SHould this be done only in "make" mode or also in "refresh" (both 
when --source-format is set to "3.0 (quilt)" either from the command 
line or from dh-make-perl.conf)?

I was wondering also if such behaviour would be useful outside of 
--pkg-perl mode and how to trigger it.
