Package: libopenal1 Version: 1:1.12.854-2 Severity: normal
The game Osmos has a free demo that can be downloaded here: http://www.hemispheregames.com/osmos/#anchor_demos I am using the OsmosDemo.bin64 binary from the .tar.gz version. The game does not play any sound, and it outputs the following when starting: Initializing SoundSystem... Initializing OpenAL Getting OpenAL device list Found 3 devices: Device 0: PulseAudio Software (3: OPENAL DEFAULT) Device 1: ALSA Software Device 2: PortAudio Software Pass 1: no valid device was specified (-1) Pass 2: no valid device was specified (-1) Pass 3: attempting device 0: "PulseAudio Software"... Failed to open device WARNING: Failed to initialize OpenAL I do not have PulseAudio installed. This the default configuration for Debian's graphical environment. The output suggests an issue with my openal configuration, but I have not yet verified this. If it is the configuration at fault, the default should be changed to something that works. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libopenal1 depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib Versions of packages libopenal1 recommends: ii libpulse0 0.9.21-3+b1 PulseAudio client libraries Versions of packages libopenal1 suggests: ii libportaudio2 19+svn20071022-3.2 Portable audio I/O - shared librar -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
