now that 7.0 is on its way into Debian, we should check whether that version still has this issue. Since you are on i386, you can try the packages I uploaded here: http://people.debian.org/~nomeata/ghc-7/ Note that installing this will remove any installed Debian packages containing haskell libraries. If that is not ok, you could try it in a chroot environment.
