Hello, wow, that bug report is like 5 and a half years old... Sorry, I don't have that system or that file anymore... I only remember that 'xv' automatically created the 'gs' call and that it had worked with the older version (at that time) of gs. Sorry that I can't even test the problem anymore or give any more input...
