Thanks Roland for bringing this to may inbox. Actually, OSLC-CM is the only specs that propose an interchange format that could avoid implementing ad-hoc connectors, IMHO. See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=565513 for some related pointers.
