The pax in Debian is built from sources acquired from the OpenBSD project. For many years, we used a version that was, frankly, ancient, and driven by complaints that it didn't handle large files well, etc, in July of 2009 I built a fresh version from the head of OpenBSD CVS. I just reviewed the diff between my source tree and the current OpenBSD head of CVS, and I see nothing changed that might be even remotely related. I'm not particularly motivated to try and chase down this problem, but if you or someone else want to, I'd certainly be happy to accept a patch. But I have to say that it seems *really* weird to me for the LSB suite to depend on pax. It's not a default part of the base install of any Linux distribution I know of. If the goal is to have an LSB suite that tests relevant compatibility issues between different Linux distributions, then I would personally strongly recommend switching the tests to use GNU tar, then work with upstream to reconcile any issues... I've found them quite responsive and easy to work with over the years. Bdale
