I can confirm this bug. But i've switched, roughly one year ago, to the kernel in backport (linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.5-686) and i've recompiled hostapd from testing (1:0.6.10-2), switching to ath5k and all works flawlessy, no more stability troubles.
