I wonder if you have tried running uscan with the timeout argument
set. If that would solve your problem that would provide some information.
In terms of further investigation I can suggest the following:
1.) There is a version 5.837-1 of libwww-perl.
2.) You can try using the GET utility from libwww-perl to localize the
problem to libwww-perl.
GET -s -t <timeout> <URL> > <file>
3.) From my side I could look into running the requests through a proxy
that slows the request down.
