I'm having the same issue since switching to Squeeze.

If I try to probe for cameras with zoneminder: Unable to probe local cameras, status is '255'

zmu -d /dev/video0 -q -v -U *** -P ***: Error, failed to query crop capabilities /dev/video0: Invalid argument

zmu -d /dev/video1 -q -v -U *** -P ***: Error, failed to query crop /dev/video1: Invalid argument

Squeeze up to date.
