Hi guys,

I have the exact same problems as described before. This happens only
when I load UTF-8 text files with special characters. Special characters
being èëé and such. When I load ISO-8859-1 files with these same
characters, there are no problems.

A small difference is that the display errors start at the special
characters and affect the rest of the line only. The screenshots
provided by Tony indicate display problems at 'normal' characters.

Tony, could you verify the character set of the affected files?

Well, they seem to be entirely UTF and ISO-8859-1 compatible. There are no special characters to determine an unusual character set.

The text of the file show in

http://www.streetend.force9.co.uk/misc/bugs/2005-08-26-173309_1280x1024_scrot.png

is available here:

http://www.streetend.force9.co.uk/misc/bugs/ftp_settings.php.txt

As you can see, the file is short and doesn't contain any unusual characters, certainly nothing unusual for PHP.

What's interesting is that even a new, blank file created by gphpedit exhibits these problems.

All very odd.

Tony
