When the ipod is connected to the usb port it is recognized with the
following output:

I tried the following command:

ifuse /media/ipod --uuid 66defc9e5b6eaf7ab9a52dbfc6f5bccc64c0ebe7

with the result:

usbmuxd_get_device_list: error opening socket!
No device found, is it connected?
If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device.
If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.

My system is Debian Squeeze with a stock linux-2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel
