Package: amule
Version: 2.0.3-2
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

now that wxwidgets2.6 is in sid, amule can be compiled with daemon
support. I'd like to ask that this daemon is shipped in a different
package, so that it can be installed in e.g. a server without having
to install X libraries. The package containing /usr/bin/amuled should
also ship /usr/bin/amuleweb (but not amulewebDLG), and because of
this, the amule package should at least Recommend: amule-daemon.

Important: please note that the non-X wx libraries against the daemon
links, libwx_baseu-2.6 and libwx_baseu-net-2.6, are currently shipped
in the libwxgtk2.6-0 package itself, which means that for the split to
achieve the desired effect, they would have to be put into a separate
package themselves. I've talked on IRC with Ron Lee, the wxwidgets2.6
maintainer, and he's willing to make the split as soon as some package
would benefit from it. Which means that, if you intend to split amule,
a wishlist bug against libwxgtk2.6-0 stating it should be filed.

I am very interested in seeing this bug fixed. If there's something I
can do to help (sponsor an upload, prepare a patch, or NMU with
permission) please do not hesitate to mention.

  Cheers,
