There has been no upstream activity on dds2tar in over 10 years, and I
no longer use it myself... because I no longer have any active DDS
drives.

The source makes no obvious references to /proc directly, it instead
pulls various definitions in from system header files.  Could you try
rebuilding the current package from source to see if that yields a
working dds2tar under current kernels?
